Afrobeats star Asake treated a select audience to an exclusive live experience on Sunday as he performed songs from his latest project M$NEY at the iconic Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London.

The Grammy-nominated singer headlined a one-night-only show organised in partnership with Spotify, bringing together an intimate crowd made up of close friends, family members, and a curated group of top listeners on the streaming platform.

The private event marked the first time Asake performed tracks from M$NEY live since the album’s official release in May, making it a special moment for fans in attendance.

Unlike his usual high-energy stage setups, the London concert took a more refined approach, with the singer performing alongside a live orchestra. The classical arrangement gave the performance a different emotional tone, blending Afrobeats rhythms with orchestral instrumentation to reflect the depth of the project.

According to organisers, the show was recorded and will be released by Spotify as a concert film in the coming days, allowing a wider global audience to experience the performance.

During the set, Asake performed several songs from M$NEY as well as four unreleased tracks, giving attendees a rare preview of upcoming material. The performance was described by those present as a blend of introspection, energy, and artistic storytelling.

The album M$NEY itself explores themes such as wealth, gratitude, ambition, and spirituality. It continues Asake’s signature fusion of Afrobeats, Fuji influences, and melodic street-pop sounds, a style that has defined his rise in the Nigerian music industry.

Since its release on May 1, the project has enjoyed significant commercial success, topping streaming charts in more than 19 countries, including Nigeria. It also climbed to No. 8 on the United States charts, further reinforcing Asake’s growing international presence.

Asake’s journey to stardom began in 2020 when he gained widespread attention with his breakout single Lady. His unique sound quickly set him apart, leading to a rapid rise within the Afrobeats scene.

He has since released three studio albums: Mr Money With The Vibes in 2022, Work of Art in 2023, and Lungu Boy in 2024. Each project has contributed to his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most consistent hitmakers in recent years.

Over time, Asake has become one of the country’s most prominent musical exports, earning multiple awards and international recognition for his work. His style, often characterised by energetic delivery and street-inspired storytelling, has resonated with audiences across Africa, Europe, and the Americas.

At the most recent Grammy Awards, Asake received a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category. However, the award ultimately went to fellow Nigerian singer Tems, another global figure in the Afrobeats movement.

Despite the competition, Asake’s influence continues to expand, with fans and critics noting his ability to evolve his sound while maintaining strong cultural roots.

The London performance further underscores his growing appeal beyond Nigeria, positioning him as a leading voice in the global Afrobeats wave. With the upcoming release of the concert film, fans who missed the exclusive event will soon get a chance to witness the unique orchestral reinterpretation of M$NEY.
