Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has raised the alarm over a man he accused of allegedly taking his money for an iPhone 17 meant for his wife without delivering the device.
Dakolo made the allegation in a social media post while urging members of the public to be careful when dealing with the man and purchasing products advertised by him.
According to the singer, he paid the man four months ago for an iPhone 17 but has yet to receive the device. He said efforts to get the phone delivered have allegedly been met with a series of excuses, leaving him frustrated over the situation.
Dakolo explained that the man initially gave assurances that the phone was on its way and that a delivery representative would contact him. However, the singer said those promises did not result in the delivery of the device.
He also claimed that the man later told him that the phone had been sent to London, further prolonging the wait.
The singer’s concerns reportedly increased after he noticed that the same man had started advertising the new iPhone despite allegedly failing to deliver the device for which he had already received payment.
Dakolo subsequently decided to make the matter public, asking his followers to help circulate his warning.
“Please help me and repost. You might save someone. Public service announcement. Be careful of this guy,” he wrote.
The singer went on to explain how long the issue had lasted, saying, “It’s been 4 months since I gave him money for an iPhone 17 for my wife. The guy has eloped with my money.”
Dakolo said the period since the payment had been characterised by what he described as repeated false assurances concerning the whereabouts of the phone.
“It’s been one lie or the other. The phone is on its way; the delivery will call you soon; I sent it to London, etc,” he added.
The singer’s post suggests that he became particularly concerned when he saw the man promoting the same type of product online while his own transaction remained unresolved.
“As you can see, he is already posting the new phone,” Dakolo stated.
Rather than keeping the matter private, Dakolo said he decided to alert his followers because he believed other potential customers could experience a similar situation.
“My advice is, be careful of the guy and whatever he is advertising,” he said.
Dakolo also described the man as “very dishonest” and claimed that he resides in Canada, which he said had made it difficult for him to get hold of the individual directly.
“He stays in Canada, so you can’t get a hold of him,” the singer added.
The allegation has drawn attention because it involves a high-value electronic device and a transaction that Dakolo says has remained unresolved for several months.
While the singer has publicly shared his account of what happened, his claims remain allegations and have not independently been established in the information provided.
His decision to make the matter public appears to be aimed at warning others who may be considering transactions with the individual. By asking his followers to repost the message, Dakolo hopes his experience will serve as a caution to people who may come across the man’s advertisements online.
