‘The Imisi You Saw Was Not Really Me’ – BBNaija Winner Opens Up on Ex-Boyfriend Influence

Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner, Imisi, has revealed that she ended her relationship with her boyfriend, Hakeem, just weeks before attending the show’s auditions. 

Speaking in a post-show interview with host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Imisi described the breakup as “hectic” but declined to disclose the reasons behind their separation.

Imisi explained that her ex-boyfriend had a significant influence on her style and appearance. She admitted that much of what viewers saw on social media her fashion choices, makeup, and frontals was shaped to please Hakeem. “The Imisi you saw on social media was not really me,” she confessed

 “My dressing and style were influenced by my ex, Hakeem, because that’s what he liked. He liked when I wore makeup and frontals, so I did that to please him because he was my safe place. He liked girls who looked girly, and he was the only person I had at the time.”

Despite this influence, Imisi revealed that their relationship ended on April 4, just a month before she auditioned for BBNaija in May.

 She noted that the breakup left her little time to emotionally recover before entering the house. “It was really a hectic breakup, and I didn’t have the time to heal before the show,” she said.

Entering the BBNaija house with a heavy heart, Imisi still managed to navigate the challenges of the competition and eventually emerged as the winner of Season 10. Her honesty about her personal struggles resonated with fans, shedding light on the human side behind the public persona many had admired online.

Her story also highlights the impact personal relationships can have on self-expression and public image, as Imisi had tailored her appearance to meet her partner’s expectations rather than fully reflecting her own personality.

The revelation comes amid other post-show interviews where Imisi discussed her journey, strategies, and experiences in the house, offering fans a deeper understanding of the determination and resilience that led to her victory.
