Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Motilola Adekunle, has opened up about her past marriage and shared an emotional message to women dealing with similar experiences. Speaking candidly in an interview with fellow actress Biola Bayo, Motilola revealed the emotional realities of a failed marriage and offered a deep perspective on the issue.

During the heartfelt interview, Motilola emphasized that no woman enters marriage with the intention of walking away. According to her, when a marriage ends, no one emerges as a winner. She expressed concern over how many people now view marriage as a form of competition, especially among women.

“No woman goes into marriage with the intention of leaving. When a marriage fails, nobody wins. I don’t know how people see it as a competition,” she stated.

The actress highlighted how some women tend to dramatize issues and focus more on being right rather than finding peace or understanding in their relationships. She pointed out that such behavior often leads to unnecessary conflict and division.

“I think it is mostly women who want to make a scene out of everything. Who wants to be right about everything? There is nothing to be right about anything anymore,” Motilola added.

Known for her strong personality, the actress described herself as a “stubborn goat,” attributing her passion for acting to her high school years. She revealed that her journey into the entertainment industry began when she discovered her love for acting in SS2 (Senior Secondary School 2). However, the transition from acting to directing has presented its own set of challenges.

“I am a stubborn goat. I fell in love with acting when I was in SS2. My major challenge is that now, as a director, it’s harder to be an actor,” she noted.

Motilola Adekunle’s openness about her personal struggles is not only a reflection of her resilience but also serves as an encouragement to other women facing difficult marital situations. Her comments have sparked conversation around the reality of failed marriages, the pressures women face in relationships, and the importance of emotional maturity.

As a respected figure in Nollywood, Motilola continues to use her platform to inspire and empower women, encouraging them to prioritize peace, growth, and self-awareness over societal expectations and competition.
