Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has broken her silence in greater detail regarding her strained relationship with fellow actress Eniola Badmus.
The drama between the two stars started when Eniola left a seemingly mocking comment on Opeyemi’s Instagram post, questioning her hairline. While Eniola later claimed the comment was made in jest, Opeyemi didn’t find it funny.
Calling the remark “hypocritical and insensitive,” Opeyemi pointed out that Eniola herself had once been a victim of body shaming before opting for cosmetic surgery.
Though Eniola issued an apology afterward, Opeyemi rejected it, describing it as “fake” and “gaslighting.” She also emphasized that they’ve never shared a close bond, making such a personal joke unwarranted.
In a recent interview with Oyinmomo TV, Opeyemi shed more light on the nature of their relationship, saying:
“We know ourselves; we might not talk on phones, we know those liking our comments, and we know ourselves liking and commenting on each other’s posts. Since the day I opened my social media post, you’ve never liked my post or celebrated me, and I’ve never done the same to you, and we are not enemies.”
Recalling their last real-life interaction, she said:
“May Murphy Afolabi rest in peace. When he passed, I went to his candlelight vigil and saw Eniola, whom we greeted each other, but this is social media, and Eniola knows how it works.”
Opeyemi explained that while the comment initially didn’t affect her, it took a toll once online trolls began amplifying it.
“You said my hair is balding, meanwhile, almost a week before the video I made, social media bad belles have been making bad comments, and I don’t fight people or correct people as long as it didn’t deduct money from my account. You then went under my comment and said ‘Opeyemi, where is your hairline?’ I was pained by the comment honestly until people went under her comment to mock me.”
She concluded by addressing those who claim not to notice online drama:
“See honestly we all see each other’s comments, forget that ‘somebody is too busy’, no one is too busy.”
The ongoing rift has sparked reactions from fans, many of whom are divided over who was in the wrong.
