Nigerian preacher and gospel artist turned prophet, Emmanuel Okose, popularly known as Soul E, has stirred controversy online with his remarks about marital intimacy.
In a now-viral video circulating on social media, the outspoken cleric criticised married men who do not take showers with their wives, describing them as “irresponsible” and claiming their marriages lack emotional depth.
According to him, regular shared baths are more than just romantic they are spiritual. “If as a husband, you’ve never bathed with your wife at least ten times in a year, something is fundamentally wrong with your union,” he said during a sermon. He went further to suggest that such acts strengthen the emotional bond between couples and help unlock divine blessings in marriage.
Okose claimed that physical acts like scrubbing one another during bath time are symbolic of care, vulnerability, and spiritual alignment. “The joy your wife feels when you wash her like a baby that’s the kind of energy that brings unity and power into your marriage,” he asserted.
His comments have triggered mixed reactions. While some applauded his emphasis on emotional closeness, others accused him of crossing moral lines and abandoning scripture for sensationalism.
Critics say religious leaders should focus on teachings grounded in scripture rather than offering advice that feels more at home in relationship blogs than on the pulpit. Still, the video has sparked conversations on love languages, intimacy, and how couples maintain connection in today’s fast-paced world.
Whether misguided or eye-opening, Prophet Okose’s comments have once again pushed the boundaries of public religious discourse.
