Afro-fusion superstar Burna Boy has once again proven his dominance in the African music scene by clinching the prestigious Best Overall Male Artiste award at the 2025 Africa Arts Entertainments Awards (AAEA). The star-studded event, which took place in Nairobi, Kenya, brought together some of the biggest names in African entertainment, but it was Burna Boy who emerged as the night’s biggest winner.
The African Giant’s latest achievement cements his position as a trailblazer in contemporary African music. Known for his electrifying performances and globally acclaimed hits, Burna Boy continues to be a force shaping the international perception of African music.
His recognition at the AAEA awards follows a string of successes and adds to an already impressive list of accolades.

Other Nigerian artists also had a strong showing at the event. Tems, Wizkid, Ayra Starr, Darkoo, Seyi Vibez, Asake, OdumoduBlvck, and Davido all received honours, further highlighting Nigeria’s influence on the African music landscape.
The event also celebrated international stars, with South Africa’s Tyla bagging two awards and Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz also being recognized for his musical excellence.
Burna Boy’s win follows his recent comment on why he rarely honours podcast interviews a move that has sparked conversations among fans online.
