Reality TV star and billionaire heir, Kiddwaya, has responded to backlash from some Nigerians following his call for donations to support victims affected by recent violent attacks in Benue State. Despite facing criticism for the appeal, Kiddwaya has made it clear that his dedication to assisting those in need remains unwavering.
Earlier this week, Kiddwaya took to social media to urge the public to contribute towards relief efforts for displaced individuals in Benue. However, the move was met with mixed reactions, with some Nigerians questioning why someone of his financial status would ask the public for money instead of solely funding the initiative himself.
In response to the backlash, Kiddwaya posted a video addressing the concerns and clarifying his intentions. He emphasized that his call for donations was not about shifting responsibility but rather about creating a collective response to a humanitarian crisis.
"I don’t understand why people are angry," Kiddwaya said. "I’m only trying to help my people. I’ve never shied away from using my platform and resources to give back, and this is no different. I’m doing my part, and I’m asking those who can, to join me."
He went on to reassure Nigerians that his support for the victims of the Benue crisis goes beyond social media posts or fundraising campaigns.
"Whether people donate or not, I’m still going to do what I need to do. This is personal for me," he added. "Benue is my home, and I will always stand with my people."
The reality star’s remarks come amid growing concerns over the escalating humanitarian situation in Benue, where thousands have been displaced due to violent attacks. While his approach sparked debate online, others have commended him for using his influence to shine a light on a crisis that often receives limited attention.
Despite the criticism, Kiddwaya’s message remains clear—his commitment to supporting victims in Benue is strong, and he hopes others will join in any way they can.
