Nigerian veteran music producer ID Cabasa has disclosed that rapper Olamide has an extensive collection of unreleased songs, with the total exceeding 100 tracks.
In a recent interview posted on X this Monday, Cabasa shed light on the large volume of unreleased music many dedicated artists, including Olamide, keep stored. He said, “Bring many songs wey no make am out wey dey on top my system… Even my own no plenty reach Olamide own,” emphasizing that Olamide’s unreleased catalog is particularly vast.
Cabasa also mentioned that beyond solo recordings, there are several collaborations with producers like Young Jonn and Pheelz that have not yet been released. He highlighted that the key is the discipline artists maintain to consistently create, whether or not they immediately share their work.
“It’s just that discipline that we’ve given ourselves — whether we are releasing songs or not, we just show up. We just want to release stuff down,” he explained.
Advising emerging musicians, Cabasa encouraged them to adopt a steady recording habit rather than waiting for an ideal time to release music. He noted that producing a strong 12-track album today often requires recording up to 50 songs, allowing artists to explore different ideas.
