The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 120 individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud following coordinated raids across various locations in Lagos State.
According to Dele Oyewale, the commission’s spokesperson, the operation was carried out on Monday, May 19, 2025, by officers from the EFCC’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 1.
Oyewale disclosed that among those detained were 95 men and 25 women. The arrests were made after several weeks of surveillance and actionable intelligence linked the suspects to different cybercrime activities.
During the raids, EFCC agents seized 26 luxury vehicles, expensive jewelry, numerous smartphones, laptops, and several documents believed to be connected to the fraudulent schemes.
“The suspects are currently under further investigation and will face prosecution once the inquiry is complete,” Oyewale stated.
