Adeola, the daughter of popular Nollywood actress Jumoke George, has finally returned to Nigeria after spending four harrowing years in Mali, where she was trafficked.

Her return was officially confirmed on Monday by the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

According to Dabiri-Erewa, Adeola had been a victim of human trafficking and was rescued through collaborative efforts.

She revealed that the commission received her from Mali and is now working to ensure her safe reintegration into Nigerian society.

The NIDCOM boss commended the roles played by actress Bola Adebayo, who brought the matter to public attention, and actor Niyi Johnson, who contributed to efforts that led to Adeola’s recovery.

While the full details surrounding Adeola’s trafficking ordeal remain undisclosed, her safe return signals a positive development in Nigeria’s fight against human trafficking, which continues to affect many young Nigerians, particularly women.

Dabiri-Erewa emphasized that the commission remains committed to locating and assisting Nigerians stranded or trafficked abroad.

She reiterated the need for stronger collaboration between government agencies, civil society, and international partners to combat trafficking and ensure justice for victims.

Jumoke George, who had previously spoken about her daughter’s disappearance, has yet to make a public statement since the return.

However, many Nigerians, particularly from the Nollywood community, have expressed relief and joy at the news, praising the swift intervention of NIDCOM and others involved.

Adeola’s return is not only a personal victory for her family but also a reminder of the importance of vigilance, awareness, and action in protecting vulnerable citizens from the horrors of trafficking. Her story is expected to further inspire advocacy and government response to this growing challenge.
