Nollywood actor Adeniyi Johnson recently caused a stir on social media after sharing a lighthearted yet concerning post about his senior colleague, Afeez Owo. Taking to Instagram, the actor urged those close to Afeez to check up on him urgently—prompting a wave of reactions from fans who initially feared the worst.
In his post, Johnson expressed mock concern over Afeez Owo’s well-being following the unexpected loss of his favorite football team, Manchester City.
“It is urgent, please. @officialafeezowo hope you’re okay sir?????!!!! @skelebe__ how far? elenu Pelebe,” he wrote, clearly poking fun at the emotional weight the loss had on his colleague.
He continued with a humorous comparison, recalling Afeez’s intense reaction during a previous football upset:
“MAN CITY, how can you do this to my Oga? If only some of you had seen his WhatsApp status the day BARCA lost to INTER… Baba, you go leave the internet for me, I promise.”
The post, though intended as a joke, prompted a wave of reactions in the comment section, as some followers took it seriously at first.
Afeez Owo later responded in the comments to assure fans he was fine, writing:
“Hmmm, look at this man. Anyway, nothing do us, up City.”
Despite the reassurance, several fans admitted they had been genuinely alarmed by the tone of the initial message:
“Gosh! I was scared,” one follower, Visages, wrote.
Irewole Olaniyan commented, “My heart first cut ah.”
Queenann5180 added, “On top game, this is too alarming abeg.”
Another follower, Aradojo, said, “Pls be careful, I was so scared.”
Maplebyautos noted, “My heart first cut!! I was very afraid. You people should be taking this soccer thing easy, o.”
Senator lateefolanrewajuidress added, “I just screamed what could have happened to him. Please be mindful of the joke you post, please. We really love you guys, and we, your fans, don’t want evil to befall you guys.”
While the situation turned out to be a joke centered around football rivalry, the post highlights just how emotionally invested fans are—not only in football but also in their favorite celebrities.
