Former Big Brother Naija Season 7 housemate, Doyin David, has declared that she will never participate in a Nigerian reality TV show again due to the emotional and psychological toll it took on her.
Speaking on a recent podcast, the 31-year-old media personality criticized the show’s producers for misrepresenting housemates through selective editing, which she claims often results in false public perceptions.
Doyin explained that the pressure of being constantly judged by the Nigerian audience compounded the stress she experienced during and after the show. She emphasized that the mental burden far outweighed any benefits from her participation, making it an experience she would never repeat.
“When you go on a reality show, they show you the way they want to,” she said. “There are a lot of misconceptions about me things people believe that just aren’t accurate. Mentally, it was a very tough experience, and I wouldn’t do it again for any amount of money. Maybe if it’s outside the country. But Nigerians? They’re too judgmental. I’m not showing up for them again.”
Despite her disappointment with the local reality TV industry, Doyin hinted at a willingness to consider international reality shows, provided they offer a more authentic and respectful portrayal of participants.
Aside from her reality TV fame, Doyin is a well-known entrepreneur and host of the podcast Doyin’s Corner. She also runs lifestyle ventures including The Doyin Brand and Eye Candy by Doyin David.
Her revelation adds to growing concerns over how reality stars are portrayed and treated in the public eye, and it sheds light on the harsh realities many face behind the scenes.
