BBNaija star and aspiring DJ, Tolanibaj, has set social media abuzz after advising an unnamed top Nigerian musician to consider stepping away from the music scene.

In a recent video, Tolanibaj revealed that she had been contemplating the idea for nearly a year. She criticized the artist’s recent work, labeling their latest releases as “horrible,” and urged them to bow out gracefully while preserving their legacy and dignity.

“Why is it that Nigerian artistes don’t know when to evolve or completely transition into business?” she questioned during her address.

Tolanibaj argued that musicians whose sound no longer resonates with fans should pivot to other ventures, particularly business, rather than clinging to fading musical relevance. She emphasized that maintaining a strong legacy is better than facing constant comparisons to younger, emerging talents.

Highlighting examples of successful career transitions, Tolanibaj praised industry heavyweights like Olamide and Don Jazzy for reinventing themselves beyond music. She encouraged others to follow in their footsteps.

“There’s no shame in retiring,” she said. “Stop dropping nonsense music that waters down your brand. If your past catalogue is A1, it’s better to protect that reputation than to release subpar tracks. I’d rather you become a lifestyle influencer than tarnish your legacy.”

Although Tolanibaj did not name the artist she was addressing, her comments have sparked widespread speculation and debate across social media, with fans scrambling to figure out the identity of the musician in question.
