Nigerian media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo recently shared a major life decision he made early in his career.
Speaking during a podcast appearance, Jideonwo revealed that at just 24 years old, he chose to invest in a house in Lekki, Lagos, rather than splurge on luxury.
The media personality explained that even after coming into substantial wealth, he made a conscious effort to avoid the temptation of buying flashy cars or indulging in extravagant spending.
Instead, he kept driving his old car for ten years until it completely wore out before finally getting a replacement in 2024.
“I had the same car for ten years until the car was crying,” Jideonwo said, highlighting the importance of financial discipline. “You have to store wealth so that in times of trouble, you don’t land on the floor.”
He went on to urge young people to be wise with their financial decisions, especially in an era where social media pressure can lead many into unnecessary spending.
According to Jideonwo, impressing followers today could have no relevance to one’s life in the next five years.
“Don’t make a decision based on your followers that will not be relevant in your life in five years. Bear it for five years; they will not laugh at you in five years,” he advised.
Chude Jideonwo, known for his impactful interviews and insightful social commentary, continues to advocate for intentional living and financial prudence among youths.
His story is a reminder that long-term stability often requires short-term sacrifices, a message that resonates deeply at a time when flashy lifestyles dominate social conversations.
The Lekki homeowner’s practical approach to life and finances is one many young Nigerians can look up to as they navigate their career and personal growth paths.
