Afrobeats star Davido has opened up about the impact his relationship with American R&B icon Chris Brown has had on his music career, describing it as a life-changing moment.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Bagfuel Brigade podcast, Davido recounted how their bond began back in 2018, thanks to a mutual friend who had ties to both artistes.
He shared that the connection started with a surprising FaceTime call from the friend, who happened to be at Chris Brown’s house. As the call came in, Davido could hear his own music playing in the background.
“I asked him, ‘Where are you?’ and he said, ‘I’m at Chris Brown’s house,’” Davido recalled. “Then he turned the camera and I saw Chris dancing to my song. That was wild.”
The unexpected moment took a bigger turn when the phone was handed to Brown himself, leading to their first direct conversation.
Davido revealed that a few months later, he travelled to the US to meet Chris Brown in person, and the chemistry between them was immediate.
“From the first time we met, we just naturally became friends,” he said. “Meeting Chris Brown changed my life.”
Since then, the pair have collaborated on several tracks and maintained a strong personal and professional relationship.
