Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has officially named Nigerian music icon Innocent Ujah Idibia, widely known as 2Face, as his Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach.
The announcement was made during a courtesy visit by the celebrated musician to the Government House in Makurdi on Wednesday. The governor praised 2Face for his long-standing contributions to the state’s development and his recent public support for the current administration.
Governor Alia described 2Face as a symbol of inspiration whose influence extends beyond music into social transformation and community upliftment. He noted that the musician’s positive impact on the youth and his continued efforts to promote peace and unity make him a valuable asset to the state.
“Benue is proud to call you our own,” Governor Alia said. “Your global reach, coupled with your commitment to our people, makes you the perfect choice to help steer our engagement with the creative industry and local communities.”
The new appointment places 2Face in a strategic position to advise the government on policies that foster entertainment development, youth empowerment, and grassroots outreach programs.
2Face, who hails from Benue State, has been active in numerous humanitarian causes and is the founder of the 2Baba Foundation, which focuses on nation-building, peace advocacy, and voter education.
His new role is expected to bridge the gap between the government and the creative sector while also promoting social change and civic awareness across the state.
This latest move by Governor Alia is part of his broader effort to involve influential natives in governance and development initiatives as he gears up for the 2027 political cycle.
The appointment has already begun drawing positive reactions from entertainment stakeholders and fans alike, who see it as a step in the right direction.
