Nollywood superstar and filmmaker Funke Akindele has confidently predicted that her latest movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, will rake in a staggering N5 billion at the box office by the end of the year.
Speaking in a viral video alongside some of the cast members, Akindele expressed optimism about the movie's financial success, declaring: “We are making N5 billion this year!”
If Akindele’s projection comes true, Everybody Loves Jenifa would obliterate the current record set by her previous blockbuster, A Tribe Called Judah, which made history as the first Nigerian movie to surpass N1 billion at the box office.
The movie premiered on Sunday night at Filmhouse Lekki IMAX in Lagos, attracting a dazzling array of celebrities. Notably, Akindele’s estranged friend, actress Eniola Badmus, was among the attendees, sparking whispers of a possible reconciliation.
The Jenifa franchise, which began in 2008 with Jenifa's Diary, has grown into one of the most beloved and successful in Nollywood history. With a dynamic cast including Nancy Isime, Patience Ozokwor, Falz the Bad Guy, and Stan Nze, the latest installment promises to be both a commercial and critical triumph.
Fans React to the N5 Billion Ambition on social media sharing their thoughts on Akindele’s bold forecast.
Everybody Loves Jenifa officially hits cinemas nationwide on December 13, 2024. With Akindele’s Midas touch and a massive fan base, the film could indeed rewrite Nollywood’s box office records.
Get ready for the laughter, drama, and a potential cinematic milestone!
