Nigerian rap legend Reminisce has spilled the tea on the music industry, and it's not pretty!
In a recent appearance on the 'I Said What I Said' podcast, Reminisce revealed that money has become the driving force behind hit songs in Nigeria.
Gone are the days when good music alone could propel a song to the top of the charts. According to Reminisce, "Money now produces hits, not music anymore." Ouch!
The veteran rapper didn't mince words, stating that the marketing budget of a song is now the determining factor of its success. "Whatever song you see popping, go ask what the marketing budget was. That's what determines how big a song is," he said.
This revelation has left many music lovers wondering: has the Nigerian music industry lost its way? Has the pursuit of wealth and fame overshadowed the true art of music-making?
Share your thoughts! Do you agree with Reminisce's assessment of the music industry?
