Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington is facing the music – literally! He's been formally charged with defamation after mocking fellow artist Burna Boy on social media. But here's the twist: Darlington's legal team claims his continued detention is unlawful.
The drama began on November 27, 2024, when Darlington was arrested during a performance in Owerri, Imo State. This was his second detention in two months, and his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, pointed fingers at Burna Boy, accusing him of being behind the arrest.
But what's really got everyone talking is that defamation is no longer a criminal offense under Nigerian law. So, why is Darlington still behind bars? His lawyer, Stanley Alieke, expressed frustration over the prolonged detention, stating that the rapper is legally entitled to bail.
The court proceedings are set to continue after the holiday season, but one thing's for sure – this defamation drama is about to get a whole lot juicier!

Burna Boy kidnapped Akpi, kept him in prison for a civil matter, and used all tools of oppression against him.

But Nigerians are keeping quiet, because it’s Akpi, not one of their faves.
It’s until Akpi dies, that you’d see them come with fake sympathy.
