Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri, famously dubbed the “Queen of YouTube Nollywood”, has taken a stand against producers pressuring actors to deliver sky-high viewership numbers on the platform. Kadiri addressed the growing trend of demanding one million views on a movie’s first day of upload, calling it unfair and misguided.
In a candid Instagram post, Kadiri urged her fellow actors not to let producers’ unrealistic expectations define their careers.
“Dear Nollywood actors, take the pressure off your shoulders! Any producer who requires one million views from you in one day has failed. A good production requires more than your face,” she wrote.
Kadiri went on to emphasize that success on YouTube is about more than just numbers. “One million views is not a standard of success. So much y’all don’t know about YouTube. Don’t let their ignorance rob you of your joy,” she added.
