Famous Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has secured a landmark victory in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election.
Running on the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dumelo defeated the incumbent, Lydia Alhassan of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), in a closely watched parliamentary race.

The actor-turned-politician emerged victorious in Saturday’s general election, held on December 7, 2024, with an impressive 40,561 votes. His opponent, Lydia Alhassan, who previously held the seat, garnered 27,377 votes.
This marks a significant turnaround for Dumelo, who contested for the same seat in 2020 but narrowly lost to Alhassan.
