Internationally acclaimed South African actress Connie Chiume has passed away at the age of 72. The actress, celebrated for her iconic roles in "Black Panther" and "Wakanda Forever," died on Tuesday at Garden City Hospital.
In a public statement, her family expressed their sorrow: “The Chiume Family regrets to inform you of the passing of internationally acclaimed award-winning actress Connie Chiume. Connie, 72, died today on August 6, 2024, at Garden City Hospital. The family will communicate further details and ask for privacy during this difficult period.”
Connie Chiume gained fame through her diverse roles in popular TV shows such as "Mohlolohadi," "Zone 14," "Yizo Yizo," "Rhythm City," "Housekeepers," and "Grassroots." Her portrayal in the Marvel movie "Black Panther" brought her international recognition.
Most recently, she starred in the hit series "Gomora" and featured in Beyoncé’s film "Black Is King." Chiume’s remarkable career left a significant mark on the entertainment industry, and she will be remembered for her extraordinary contributions to film and television.
