Maverick entertainer and popular activist, Charles Oputa, known as Charly Boy, has called on Nigerian youths to intensify the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests across the country. In a fervent appeal on Tuesday, posted on his official X handle, Charly Boy emphasized that the fight for good governance is crucial for the nation's survival.
"My dear Nigerian Youths, I trust that by now you all know what we’re up against. We can never make an omelet without breaking eggs. The powers that be are demonically entrenched," he stated.
Charly Boy criticized the current leadership, describing them as thieves, dishonest, insane, intolerable, and indifferent to the lives of ordinary Nigerians. He highlighted the importance of the ongoing struggle, stating, "This is the fight of our lives and you guys are my bragging right."
Encouraging the youth to amplify their efforts, he said, "We can defeat this monster that has befallen us, we need to get louder and go pro max."
The #EndBadGovernance protests, which began last Thursday, are a response to the high cost of living and are expected to last for at least ten days. Despite President Bola Tinubu's appeal for calm in his nationwide broadcast on Sunday, protesters continued to demand immediate action to reduce the prices of fuel, food, and other essential commodities.
However, the protests saw a significantly lower turnout on Tuesday, following reports that security operatives allegedly suppressed demonstrators on Monday.
