Nigerian singer Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, has passionately called on the Super Eagles to give their all in the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final against South Africa's Bafana Bafana.

The singer, in a video shared on her social media page, specifically urged star striker Victor Osimhen and his teammates to secure a resounding victory over South Africa.

Teni drew a connection between the AFCON clash and the recent disappointment at the 66th Grammys, where Nigerian artists, including Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Davido, Asake, and Olamide, were snubbed, and South African singer Tyla emerged as the winner in the Best African Music Performance category.

Expressing her plea in the video, Teni emphasized the symbolic significance of a Super Eagles triumph against South Africa as a form of revenge for the Grammy loss suffered by their compatriots. The AFCON semi-final, set to take place at Bouaké’s Stade de la Paix in Cote D’Ivoire, holds additional meaning for Nigerian fans, who are eager to see their national team excel on the football pitch and redeem the recent setback in the music realm.

She said, “Grammy there’s a problem. We have many parties. You have killed our groove.

“South Africa, Tyla’s ‘Water.’ Alright. [Victor] Osimhen, over to you. [Ademola] Lookman, over to you. South Africa, you will dance Amapiano after your AFCON defeat. You killed my groove. Grammy why?”
