It’s official, Netflix will releaser ‘Anikulapo’ on September 30; however, the media giant has launched the movie’s official trailer to whet subscribers’ appetite.
‘Anikulopo’ was shot in conjunction with KAP Motion pictures, and it’s an epic movie that captures the rich cultural heritage of the Yorubas.
The movie is a Yoruba language movie that features Hollywood actor Hakeem Kae-Kazim and other Nollywood stars like Sola Sobowale, Bimbo Ademoye, Taiwo Hassan, Kunle Remi and Bimbo Ademoye.
Other actors in the epic movie include Fathia Balogun, Adebayo Salami, Moji Olayiwola, Kareem Adepoju, Mr Macaroni and young skit maker Ikorodu Bois.
Storyline
Saro, played by Kunle Remi, is a simple craftsman who wandered into a village with the power of resurrection. The power of resurrection earned him the name, Anikulapo, that is, one who holds death in his purse.
However, as his power became more noticeable, his fame grew steadily, too, which caused forces to start gathering around him.
As time passed, he fell in love with a young lady, leading to a romantic relationship. The lady’s antics made her be called a man-eater. As a result of the relationship, we are left to find out if the one who holds death can deliver himself.
Written by Kunle Afolayan, ‘Anikulapo’ is a story of death, resurrection and the greedy desires of men.
Background
Early this year, Kunle Afolayan disclosed that Hakeem Kae-Kazim would star in his next movie.
The filmmaker hinted his followers that his upcoming movie is similar to the globally acclaimed hit series, ‘Game of Thrones’ but with a rich representation of the Nigerian culture.
“If you are a true fan of productions born out of Golden Effects Pictures and KAP Motion Pictures, then your imaginations should be running wild.
“The movie is being shot on our latest project site KAP Film Village Studio and Resort Igbojaye, Komu in Itesiwaju Local Government, Oyo State,” he wrote.
