Senator Ned Nwoko has appealed to bloggers, social media users and members of the public to stop spreading false information about his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, particularly fabricated reports announcing her death and unverified claims about her health.
The lawmaker made the appeal in a statement shared on his Instagram page, where he expressed concern over the attention and emotional pressure the actress has been subjected to amid reports about her personal life.
Nwoko urged Daniels’ fans, friends and supporters to give her some privacy and allow her time to recover, stressing that she needs understanding and encouragement rather than public criticism.
He also expressed concern about the possible effect of the circulating reports on their children, saying they need to see their mother receive the support necessary for her well-being.
“I want to make a sincere appeal to the public, particularly Regina’s fans, friends, bloggers and social media commentators, to please give Regina some breathing space,” he said.
The senator described Daniels as someone who had experienced considerable challenges and maintained that the current situation required compassion from those following her story.
“Regina has been through a lot, more than many people may realise, and right now, what she needs most is love, support and the opportunity to recover.”
Nwoko Condemns False Death Announcements
The lawmaker particularly criticised publications falsely claiming that Daniels had died, describing such reports as harmful and capable of causing unnecessary emotional distress.
According to him, the actress is aware of several of the publications circulating online, making their continued spread particularly troubling.
He argued that such claims should not be treated as ordinary social media engagement because of their potential impact on someone already dealing with personal challenges.
“These things are not harmless social media engagement. Regina sees many of these posts, and they are deeply distressing. They do nothing to support her recovery, rather, they add to the burden she is already carrying,” he said.
Nwoko therefore urged social media users to verify information before sharing it and discouraged those who genuinely care about Daniels from participating in the circulation of misleading reports.
He maintained that spreading unconfirmed stories about her health and personal circumstances would only increase the pressure on the actress rather than help her.
Senator Refers to Actress’ Birthday Video
Nwoko also referred to a video Daniels released on her birthday, saying it provided some indication of the health challenges she had been experiencing.
He urged members of the public to consider the situation with sensitivity instead of using the actress’s circumstances as an opportunity to judge, criticise or vilify her.
The senator said his concern for Daniels’ well-being had remained a priority and was one of the reasons he decided to make certain details of their private circumstances public.
He did not want the public discussion surrounding the actress to become an avenue for spreading fabricated information or subjecting her to further emotional pressure.
His appeal comes amid continued public attention surrounding the relationship between the estranged couple and Daniels’ personal circumstances.
Nwoko Threatens Legal Action Against Those Spreading False Claims
Beyond appealing for restraint, the senator warned that individuals deliberately spreading false information about Daniels could face legal consequences.
He disclosed that his team was documenting publications and social media content considered misleading, adding that those responsible would be pursued through the appropriate legal channels.
“We are documenting these publications, and anyone found responsible will be held accountable through the appropriate legal channels,” he said.
The warning signals Nwoko’s intention to take action against people who knowingly circulate fabricated reports, particularly those involving claims about the actress’s death or health.
He also encouraged Daniels’ supporters to help discourage the spread of such information rather than giving the publications further attention through reposts and comments.
Calls for Privacy and Support
Nwoko concluded his appeal by reiterating that Daniels deserves an opportunity to recover without being subjected to unnecessary public scrutiny.
He maintained that the actress needs support from those around her and members of the public, rather than additional pressure from online commentary.
The senator’s statement has brought renewed attention to the consequences of spreading unverified information about public figures, particularly when the claims involve sensitive personal matters.
His message was that concern for Daniels should be demonstrated through responsible conversations, respect for her privacy and an end to fabricated reports.
