Nollywood actor Ibrahim Suleiman has shared the unexpected circumstances that led him and his wife, Ihuoma Linda Ejiofor, to make their marriage public in 2018, revealing that the couple had initially intended to keep the ceremony private.
The actor made this revelation during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, where he discussed his relationship with his wife, his past romantic experiences and the events surrounding their wedding announcement.
According to Ibrahim, the couple had already exchanged marital vows a week before news of their union became public.
At the time, they had no plans to inform the public about their marriage, preferring to keep the occasion away from the attention that often accompanies celebrity relationships.
Their decision to remain discreet, however, was interrupted when a journalist contacted them after receiving information that they had secretly tied the knot.
Ibrahim explained that the journalist approached them in a friendly manner, expressing admiration for the couple while revealing that his sources had confirmed their marriage. He reportedly gave them 24 hours before his team would publish a report about the development.
Faced with the possibility of their wedding becoming public through an outside report, the actor discussed the situation with his wife.
Linda reportedly advised that they should announce the marriage themselves rather than allow someone else to control the story. She believed taking that step would give them the opportunity to share the news on their own terms.
The couple also consulted their father-in-law, who supported the decision. He reportedly observed that their close friends and inner circle had worked hard to keep the ceremony secret and suggested that it was time to reveal the news.
Beyond discussing their wedding, Ibrahim opened up about some of the difficult experiences he encountered in his previous relationships.
The actor recalled being heartbroken after a former partner ended their relationship through an email. He expressed disappointment over the experience, noting that he had always tried to treat his romantic partners with respect.
Despite those setbacks, he described his relationship with Linda as particularly meaningful, portraying her as someone he could depend on even when circumstances became difficult.
He also shared a humorous account of how his wife persuaded him to pursue acting, suggesting that her influence played a role in his journey within the entertainment industry.
Ibrahim further disclosed that one of his greatest fears had been repeating the experience of his father, who abandoned him when he was young. He was particularly concerned about experiencing a similar situation with his own son.
Over the years, the actor has frequently expressed appreciation for Linda's support and sacrifices. In July, he celebrated her birthday by acknowledging the adjustments she made to her career to focus on raising their son.
The couple also marked their seventh wedding anniversary last year, with Ibrahim crediting his wife for helping him recover emotionally during a difficult period in his life.
Their relationship continues to attract attention from fans, particularly because of the affection and gratitude they regularly express towards each other publicly.
