Nigerian entertainer Akinyoola Ayoola, widely recognised as Kamo State, has recorded an impressive achievement in the Nigerian film industry after his debut cinema production, Starlomo, generated N92.7 million in box office revenue.

The development represents a significant step in the entertainer’s career, particularly as he moves beyond comedy skits and acting into the business of producing feature films for cinema audiences.

FilmOne Entertainment, the distributor of the movie, announced the latest earnings through its official Instagram account on Monday. The company celebrated the performance of the production, noting that audience support for the film continued to grow.

The distributor also encouraged movie lovers to visit cinemas across the country to watch the production, which remains available nationwide.

Starlomo began its journey with a premiere in Lagos on September 20, 2026, before making its nationwide cinema debut five days later, on September 25.

The film was directed by Kayode Kasum, a filmmaker known for his work in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

The storyline centres on Ayotide, a young man determined to build a career in music despite coming from a family involved in the food business. His decision to pursue his passion takes him to Lagos, where he encounters several difficulties.

However, his circumstances become even more complicated following the murder of his parents, forcing him to return home. During this period, he uncovers an unexpected part of his family's history.

He discovers that his parents were once respected Fuji musicians whose musical achievements and legacy had been taken away from them. With this revelation, Ayotide turns to their old recordings, using the materials to rebuild his music career and restore his family's reputation.

The production features an ensemble cast of established and emerging Nigerian entertainers. Among those who appear in the movie are Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Chatta, Lateef Adedimeji, Mike Afolarin, KieKie, Iyabo Ojo, Abiola Adebayo and Koyin Sanusi.

Kamo State also worked behind the scenes as a co-producer, collaborating with Muyiwa Idowu and Barbara Babarinsa to bring the project to the big screen.

The N92.7 million achievement highlights the entertainer's successful attempt to explore another aspect of filmmaking after gaining popularity through social media comedy.

Although widely known for creating humorous online content, his latest project demonstrates his growing interest in expanding his contributions to Nollywood.

The performance of Starlomo also adds to the growing list of Nigerian productions attracting cinema audiences, further highlighting the opportunities available to entertainers seeking to explore filmmaking beyond their established careers.
