Veteran Nigerian actor and filmmaker Richard Mofe-Damijo is set to deliver the keynote address at the sixth edition of the International Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference, scheduled to take place in Lagos in November.
The event, organised by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), will run from November 18 to 19 at the MUSON Centre in Onikan, bringing together major players in Nigeria’s film and digital entertainment industries.
Mofe-Damijo, widely recognised as RMD, will make history as the first male motion picture practitioner to deliver the keynote address at the annual gathering. He follows media entrepreneur Mo Abudu, who addressed the conference in 2024, and filmmaker Bolanle Austen-Peters, who delivered the keynote in 2025.
The 2026 conference will examine the theme, “Film and Content Production in the Digital Era: Balancing Regulation and Innovation,” with discussions centred on how the industry can embrace technological developments while maintaining appropriate standards.
Participants are expected to include filmmakers, streaming service representatives, content creators, distributors, exhibitors, policymakers and academics.
Their discussions will cover emerging challenges and opportunities associated with the rapid growth of digital entertainment.
Key areas of focus will include artificial intelligence, intellectual property protection, content monetisation, streaming platforms, digital safety and the regulation of online material.
NFVCB Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Shaibu Husseini, said RMD’s extensive experience across entertainment, business and public service would contribute valuable perspectives to the conference.
Husseini explained that the gathering would provide an opportunity to explore ways of supporting creativity while ensuring audiences are protected and content producers operate responsibly.
He also emphasised the importance of developing policies that encourage innovation and strengthen the long-term competitiveness of Nigeria’s screen industry.
The conference was established as a platform for stakeholders to address changing developments in film production, distribution and digital content regulation.
It honours the memory of Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the late filmmaker who founded the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
The previous edition examined Nollywood’s future in the digital age, with Bolanle Austen-Peters serving as keynote speaker.
RMD brings more than three decades of experience to this year’s event, having built a career spanning film, television, journalism, entrepreneurship and public administration. His screen credits include more than 60 film and television productions.
He also served as Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, adding public-sector experience to his background in the creative industry.
His appointment comes as Nigerian filmmakers and digital creators continue to navigate changes in technology, distribution and audience consumption.
The November conference is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to consider how effective regulation can protect creative works, promote responsible content and create opportunities for sustainable growth in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
