Former Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate Mercedes has appealed to music executive Don Jazzy for help with securing accommodation, explaining that she is still trying to find stability after leaving the reality television show.
While appearing on a major television platform can bring recognition and new opportunities, Mercedes says her experience outside the house has not been as easy as people might imagine. She wants to settle into her own space, feel comfortable where she lives and have a better chance of building her career.
In her appeal to Don Jazzy, she explained that the attention that comes with being on television does not necessarily mean everything is going well behind the scenes.
“Since leaving the Big Brother house, I’ve been struggling to find my feet again. People may see the exposure and assume I’m living my dream, but behind the scenes, I’m trying so hard to rebuild my life. I don’t even see myself as a celebrity. I’m just a young woman trying to find her place in the world.
Mercedes said one of her biggest concerns at the moment is getting a home of her own. According to her, her current living situation does not always make her feel safe or comfortable, and having a private space would help her regain a sense of peace and independence.
She wrote:
“Sir, I desperately want to move into a place of my own. I don’t always feel safe or comfortable where I currently live, and having my own space would mean so much more to me than just independence. It would give me peace of mind, room to grow, and the freedom to finally focus on building my career.
“Sir, I’m not asking for a luxurious lifestyle. I’m asking for a chance to stand on my own two feet.
The reality star made it clear that she is not asking for a lavish lifestyle or anything extravagant. Her request centres on having a place where she can feel secure and direct more of her attention towards her future.
For Mercedes, securing accommodation would mean more than simply moving into a new apartment. It would give her the opportunity to establish a routine, work towards her goals and begin the next stage of her life with greater confidence.
She also recognised that Don Jazzy receives numerous requests from people seeking assistance, but she hoped he would consider her situation and understand how much his support could mean to her.
She concluded her appeal by writing:
“If you could help me secure a place of my own and start this new chapter, it would mean more to me than I can explain. I know you must receive countless requests, but I hope you can hear the sincerity in mine.”
Mercedes' appeal highlights the challenges that can come with adjusting to life after a reality television show. Although contestants may leave the house with public recognition, building a stable life and turning that exposure into lasting career opportunities can take time.
For now, Mercedes is hoping for help with one of her most pressing needs: finding a place she can call her own.
