Mike Bamiloye’s faith-based Nollywood production, Agbára Nlá: The Return, has continued its impressive performance in Nigerian cinemas, generating N408.3 million after maintaining its position as the leading film for four consecutive weekends.

The latest milestone was announced by the film’s distributor, Nile Entertainment, on Monday, October 26, 2026, as the production continues to attract cinema audiences nationwide.

The distributor celebrated the achievement in a social media post, describing the film’s performance as a historic moment for Nigerian cinema. According to the announcement, the production has become the highest-grossing movie released in October and the highest-grossing faith-based film of all time.

The new figure represents a significant increase from the N354.5 million recorded as of October 20, highlighting the film’s continued commercial momentum since its arrival in cinemas.

Agbára Nlá: The Return debuted on October 1, 2026, following preview screenings that reportedly generated more than N71 million from 12,134 admissions. The film subsequently recorded an impressive opening period, earning approximately N170.6 million through its previews and opening weekend.

The production is directed by Damilola Bamiloye and Joshua Bamiloye, popularly known as Jay Mikee. It reimagines the Christian film classic originally created by their father, Mike Bamiloye, in 1993.

The original Agbara Nla became a recognised title within Nigeria’s Christian filmmaking industry, later receiving an English-language adaptation titled The Ultimate Power in 1994.

The new instalment centres on Muwonleru, a village under the control of Isawuru, a powerful herbalist whose influence faces a challenge when two Christian believers, Olaboye and Olatomi, arrive to spread the Gospel.

As the pair attempt to change the community, they encounter resistance from forces determined to preserve the existing order. Mike Bamiloye reprises his role as Isawuru, bringing a familiar character back to audiences more than three decades after the original production.

The cast also includes Aanu Abiodun, Philip Olubakin, Remilekun Mosiko, Gloria Mike Bamiloye and David Kola Okeowo.

Chris Odeh produced the film, with Mount Zion Film Productions, Sozo Films and Circuits involved in the project. Nile Entertainment is responsible for its theatrical distribution.

Beyond Nigeria, the production has expanded its reach through cinema screenings in the United Kingdom and Canada, introducing the film to audiences outside its home market.

With its box-office earnings continuing to rise, Agbára Nlá: The Return has demonstrated the commercial potential of faith-based storytelling in Nollywood.

Its sustained cinema performance also marks a notable achievement for the Mount Zion filmmaking tradition, which has built a loyal audience through Christian-themed productions over several decades.

The film remains on show in cinemas across Nigeria as it continues its record-breaking run.
