October 2026 promises to be an exciting month for Nollywood, with a strong lineup of films heading to cinemas and streaming platforms.

From highly anticipated remakes and political documentaries to crime thrillers, romantic comedies and ambitious futuristic stories, Nigerian filmmakers are offering audiences a wide range of productions to choose from.

Here are some of the major Nollywood titles to watch this month.

Agbara Nla: The Return

Nollywood's October calendar gets off to a major start with Agbara Nla: The Return, a modern cinematic adaptation of Mount Zion Faith Ministries' iconic 1993 Christian television production.

Directed by Damilola and Joshua Mike Bamiloye, the film brings back the beloved characters Isawuru and Ayamatanga as they confront a new chapter of spiritual warfare in Abule Muwonleru. The cast includes Mike Bamiloye, Gloria Bamiloye, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye, Yemi Adepoju, Omolara Ayoola, David Kola-Okeowo and Ruby Kolade.

Black Market

Black Market takes audiences into the dangerous world of fuel smuggling. Set in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the movie follows five women who operate a carefully organised cross-border fuel-smuggling business.

Their operation takes a dramatic turn when a rival syndicate kidnaps the daughter of one of the women. The incident forces the group into a dangerous fight for survival and family. The movie features Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Itele D Icon, Scarlet Gomez, Omowunmi Dada, Teniola Aladese, Susan Pwajok, Uzor Arukwe and Toye Arimoro.

MKO

Directed by Ose Oyamendan, MKO is a documentary centred on the life and political legacy of Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.

The film revisits the events surrounding the June 12, 1993 presidential election and the political crisis that followed its annulment. Through interviews with individuals connected to the period, the documentary explores Abiola's political journey and his place in Nigeria's history.

Oversabi Aunty

Toyin Abraham steps into the director's chair with Oversabi Aunty, a comedy-drama centred on Toun, a devoted churchgoer whose constant urge to correct other people's behaviour begins to cause problems in her own household.

The film combines humour and family drama and features Toyin Abraham alongside Mike Ezuruonye, Tana Adelana, Jemima Osunde, Efe Iwara and Enioluwa Adeoluwa. The movie is available to stream on Netflix and Kava TV.

East West Love

East West Love brings a Nigerian-Kenyan collaboration to the screen. Directed by Seko Shamte, the romantic drama follows a Nigerian event planner who travels to Mombasa after experiencing betrayal.

Her trip gradually becomes an opportunity for healing, self-discovery and an unexpected romance with a local man named Juma. Sunshine Rosman, Brian Abajah, Efa Iwara, Elma Mbadiwe and Emmanuel Mugo are among the cast.

A Land Apart

A Land Apart, directed by Bem Pever, presents an alternative vision of Nigeria in which agriculture, rather than crude oil, forms the foundation of the country's economy.

The story takes a dramatic turn when a scientist develops a groundbreaking formula capable of addressing food shortages. The discovery attracts the attention of powerful international interests and sets off a conflict with global consequences.

The film stars Richard Mofe-Damijo, Princess Mufeedah, Onyeka Onwenu, Sam Dede, Daniel Etim Effiong and Adam Garba.

Tele x Zikora

Set within the fictional Lagos Metropolitan University, Tele x Zikora explores student life, friendship, romance and the challenges of finding one's identity in a university environment.

Directed by Adenike Adebayo-Esho, the film features Genoveva Umeh, Mike Afolarin, Chimezie Imo, Tomi Ojo, Olumide Oworu, Angel Unigwe and Layi Wasabi.

Wire Transfer

Crime and technology meet in Wire Transfer, an action feature from Kuros Studios. The film follows a new generation of technologically skilled criminals as they plan an ambitious and potentially lucrative heist.

The story explores the motivations, risks and consequences surrounding their pursuit of wealth through illegal means. Nosa Rex Okunzuwa, Hanks Anuku, Gideon Okeke, Deyemi Okanlawon and Teddy A feature in the cast.

Phoenix Fury

Directed by Ifeoma Chukwuogo, Phoenix Fury unfolds across Nigeria and Ghana and follows two women, Ewura-Ama and Ifeatu, whose lives remain connected by a painful past.

Determined to obtain justice and closure, the women embark on a journey that forces them to confront the man responsible for the trauma they experienced years earlier.

The cast includes Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ama K. Abebrese, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Ijeoma Grace Agu, Tina Mba and Adjetey Anang.

With such a diverse selection of productions, October is shaping up to be a busy month for Nigerian cinema, offering audiences stories that span spirituality, history, romance, crime, comedy, technology and social issues.
