Nollywood actress Nancy Iheme has opened up about her decision to temporarily step away from the film industry, revealing that she chose to focus on furthering her education in Poland.
The actress disclosed that taking a break from acting was one of the major personal decisions she made in 2026.
According to her, she deliberately created space away from the demands of her acting career so she could pursue a Master’s degree and invest in her academic and personal growth.
Nancy shared the revelation while celebrating her birthday on Instagram. Reflecting on the past year, she described 2026 as an important period in her life, particularly because of the decision to pursue an academic qualification abroad.
She explained that leaving behind a career she enjoys was not an easy choice, but she believed the temporary sacrifice was necessary for the next stage of her development.
Rather than viewing the break as an end to her acting journey, the actress presented it as an opportunity to acquire new knowledge and experience.
Nancy expressed satisfaction with the decision, saying she was proud of herself for having the courage to prioritise education and personal development. She also described the move as part of a larger plan she believes God has for her life.
The actress used the occasion to appreciate people who have contributed to her career over the years. She acknowledged the support, opportunities, encouragement and friendships she has received throughout her time in the entertainment industry.
According to Nancy, the kindness of people around her has reinforced her belief that prayers can sometimes be answered through the actions and support of others.
As she begins another year of her life, the actress said she is looking forward to greater clarity and direction. Among the things she prayed for were wisdom, good health, happiness, meaningful relationships and financial prosperity.
Her decision to pursue a Master’s degree comes after more than a decade of involvement in Nollywood. During her career, Nancy has built a presence in the Nigerian film industry and featured in several productions across different genres.
Her acting credits include Evil World, Alobam, Nwa Abakaliki, Blind Affection, House on Fire, My Journey to Lagos, Ladies of High Class, Mother’s Club, Ugo Eze, Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, Red Scorpion, Sambisa Army, Oga Landlord and Village Liars.
While her academic pursuit has taken centre stage for now, Nancy’s comments indicate that the break is a deliberate pause rather than a permanent departure from acting.
Her experience also highlights how some entertainers choose to temporarily put their careers on hold while pursuing other personal ambitions.
For Nancy, studying in Poland represents a new chapter, allowing her to combine her established career experience with further academic development as she looks ahead to what comes next.
