Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has opened up about an emotional experience that reminded her of a wedding she once imagined for herself but never had.
The actress shared her reflections after attending the premiere of Folagade Banks’ movie, A Mama Deola Wedding Story, on Wednesday. The event had a wedding-themed dress code, with guests encouraged to embrace the concept through their outfits.
Ogbodo joined several Nollywood stars who turned up in wedding-inspired looks, but her choice of attire appeared to carry a deeper personal meaning. Dressed in a bridal gown, the actress reflected on the emotions that came with portraying a bride and the memories the outfit brought back.
‘The Wedding I Never Had’

“The wedding I never had. Sometimes, we grieve not just what happened, but what we imagined would happen. The dress, the vows, the celebration, the forever we thought we were building,” she wrote.

“Life didn’t go exactly as I imagined, but I’m learning that the story isn’t over,” she added.
Ogbodo further suggested that the wedding she never experienced may have created space for a different kind of life, one she might not previously have imagined.
“Maybe the wedding I never had was making room for a life I never knew I deserved,” she said.
Her words highlight her decision to look beyond what she lost and remain open to new possibilities.
