Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has responded to claims that she denied making social media posts in which she called out actress Judy Austin, insisting that the allegations being circulated about her court filing are false.
The controversy follows a report that legal practitioner Emeka Ugwuonye alleged that Edochie, in a filing before an Abuja court, denied making any post against Judy Austin.
Reacting to the claim on social media, Edochie dismissed it and questioned why such information was being circulated before the matter had even reached the next stage of the court proceedings.
The actress also maintained her position on several allegations she has previously made about Judy, challenging her to appear in court on September 29, 2026.
Rita Challenges Judy To Appear In Court
In a lengthy social media post, Edochie questioned whether Judy had taken another person’s husband, had children with him and had stayed with him in hotels, among other allegations.
She also referred to claims about Judy’s previous description of her relationship with Yul Edochie and questioned the name under which the lawsuit was filed.
Edochie wrote, “29th never come, I never go court, and in their normal way of propagating lies, it’s all over the social media say I deny wetin dem copy from my page, like how?”
She went on to challenge Judy to remain calm and ensure that she appears in court when the case comes up on September 29.
The actress further referenced an alleged incident at Hotel Helson on New Market Road, Nkpor, and maintained that she was ready to defend her position in court.
Judy Austin Sues Rita Edochie
The latest development comes after Judy Austin reportedly filed a writ of summons against Edochie last month.
The suit seeks damages of N1 billion, alongside a retraction and apology. The demands also reportedly include an order for Edochie to pay Judy N50 million and 10 per cent post-judgment interest, among other reliefs.
Following the lawsuit, Edochie reacted by questioning Judy’s use of the name “Judy Austin Yul Edochie”.
She stated that she did not know anyone bearing that name and challenged Judy to produce her marriage certificate if she insisted on being addressed by the name.
The actress has remained vocal about the dispute and has repeatedly indicated that she is prepared to defend herself in court.
Rita Says She Is Ready For Court Battle
Edochie previously said that although Judy was not the first woman accused of taking another person’s husband, she believed the actress would be the first to face what she described as karma.
She also vowed to face Judy in court, claiming that if Judy knew who she was dealing with, she might question those who advised her to institute the legal action.
In another social media post, Edochie claimed that someone had been trying to plead with her over the situation, but she maintained that she was not ready to back down.
She said she was prepared for whatever came her way, stressing that she does not break under pressure or bend when faced with difficult situations.
The actress also addressed suggestions that the lawsuit was causing her sleepless nights. Rather than presenting the case as a source of fear, she described it as an opportunity to say things she had previously kept to herself.
Edochie Looks Forward To Hearing
According to Edochie, she is looking forward to the court proceedings and intends to use the opportunity to address issues surrounding the dispute.
She also claimed that Judy had effectively given her a platform to reveal information she had not previously discussed publicly.
The ongoing dispute has therefore shifted from social media exchanges to a legal battle, with both sides expected to present their positions before the court.
As September 29 approaches, attention remains focused on whether the parties will appear as expected and how the court will handle the claims and responses arising from the suit.
For now, Edochie continues to reject the claim that she denied making the posts attributed to her, while maintaining that she is ready to meet Judy in court.
