The family of late Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is set to gather in Ogun State for a special prayer to mark 40 days since the veteran actor’s death.
Ogogo’s daughter, Kira Taiwo, announced the programme on Instagram on Wednesday, inviting family members, friends, colleagues, associates and well-wishers to join them as they remember the late actor.
The prayer gathering is scheduled to take place on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State.
The event will commence at 12 noon and is expected to bring together people who knew and worked with the late actor during his decades-long career in the Yoruba film industry.
The announcement comes as Ogogo’s family continues to mourn his passing while also celebrating his contributions to Nigerian cinema.
Family Invites Friends, Colleagues
Kira shared an invitation featuring a photograph of her late father and details of the 40th day prayer.
The invitation read, “You are invited to the 40 days prayer for Alh. Al-Hassan Babatunde Taiwo ‘Ogogo.’”
The gathering is expected to provide an opportunity for the family and those close to Ogogo to come together in prayer and remembrance.
Fellow actors, filmmakers, friends and other associates of the veteran are also expected to attend the ceremony as they honour his memory and reflect on his impact on Yoruba-language cinema.
For many in the industry, Ogogo was more than an actor, having spent several decades contributing to the growth and development of Yoruba-language films.
Ogogo Died At 66
Ogogo died on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, after more than four decades in the Yoruba film industry.
His death was followed by an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, friends, fans and members of the Nigerian entertainment industry, many of whom remembered him for his career and longstanding presence in Yoruba cinema.
The veteran actor had established himself as a recognisable figure in the industry over the years, earning the nickname Ogogo among audiences and colleagues.
His passing marked the end of a career that spanned more than 40 years and saw him become one of the familiar faces in Yoruba-language entertainment.
Buried In Ilaro-Yewa
Following his death, Ogogo was buried on August 24 at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State.
The burial took place a day after his death and brought family members, colleagues and other mourners together to pay their final respects to the actor.
The same location will now host the 40th day prayer, allowing those close to the late actor to return to the venue and join his family in remembering his life.
The upcoming gathering is expected to be a solemn occasion for the family as they continue to come to terms with his death.
Family Continues To Honour His Memory
The 40th day prayer is being organised in accordance with Islamic tradition as Ogogo’s family continues to honour his memory.
Such gatherings provide an opportunity for relatives and loved ones to come together in prayer while remembering the life of the deceased.
For Ogogo’s family, the October 2 gathering will also serve as another moment to celebrate a man whose professional career was closely connected with the Yoruba film industry.
