Nigerian actress and media personality Omotunde Adebowale, better known as Lolo 1, has spoken candidly about the emotional difficulties she experienced following the birth of her first child.
The 49-year-old entertainer shared the experience while appearing on News Central’s Jasiri show, explaining that caring for her daughter became extremely challenging because the baby cried frequently.
According to Lolo 1, the constant crying left her emotionally overwhelmed and struggling to cope with motherhood. She revealed that she experienced disturbing thoughts during that period, including an uncontrollable urge to throw her baby out of a window.
She said she sometimes resorted to sitting outside her home with a stool, hoping that staying out of her daughter’s sight would calm the child.
Lolo 1 also credited her family for helping her through the difficult period. Her sister reportedly stayed with her for about three months to assist with caring for both mother and child.
After her sister left, Lolo 1 said she found it difficult to remain alone with her daughter and eventually moved her belongings to her sister’s husband’s home.
The actress explained that she did not understand at the time that what she was experiencing could be postpartum depression because she was unfamiliar with the condition.
Looking back, she expressed gratitude for the support she received from her sister and mother during one of the most difficult periods of her early motherhood.
