Yoruba drama is set to receive another addition as the upcoming movie KOLOFIN (The Hidden) prepares to premiere on the ApataTV+ YouTube Channel.
The movie, which carries the Yoruba title KOLOFIN and the English subtitle The Hidden, is directed and written by Olafemi, known on social media as @olafemi_cng. The production is by Ben Paul Films, while ApataTV+ will serve as the streaming platform for the project.
KOLOFIN is positioned as a drama built around the idea of things that remain concealed and the consequences that may emerge when hidden matters come to light. While details of the storyline remain under wraps, the title suggests a narrative that could explore secrecy, relationships and the impact of undisclosed truths.
The decision to keep major aspects of the plot undisclosed also adds an element of anticipation ahead of its release. Rather than revealing the central conflict, the production details allow viewers to discover the story as the movie unfolds on the streaming platform.
Olafemi Leads Creative Direction
Olafemi takes on both writing and directing responsibilities for KOLOFIN, giving the filmmaker significant creative control over the story and its presentation.
As the writer, Olafemi is responsible for developing the narrative and characters that will drive the drama. His role as director also places him at the centre of translating the written story into a visual production.
The combination of writing and directing allows the filmmaker to maintain a consistent creative direction throughout the project, from the development of the story to the performances and visual presentation.
KOLOFIN is produced by Ben Paul Films, adding another production outfit to the growing number of companies releasing Yoruba-language content through digital platforms.
Seiilat, Lanre Adediwura Lead Cast
The movie features a cast made up of Seiilat, Lanre Adediwura, Kemi Owadara, Olayemi Jimoh, T. Lawal and Real Abiola Gold.
The ensemble brings together actors and performers who will take on different roles within the story. Their performances are expected to be central to the delivery of the movie’s dramatic themes and the development of its characters.
Seiilat is among the names attached to the production, alongside Lanre Adediwura and Kemi Owadara. Olayemi Jimoh, T. Lawal and Real Abiola Gold also form part of the cast.
The inclusion of Real Abiola Gold is notable because the filmmaker also serves as the Director of Photography for the movie.
Real Abiola Gold Handles Cinematography
Beyond his role as part of the cast, Real Abiola Gold serves as the Director of Photography for KOLOFIN.
The DOP is responsible for the visual side of a film, working closely with the director to determine how scenes are captured and presented on screen. Camera movement, framing, lighting and other visual elements form part of the cinematography process.
For a drama titled The Hidden, the visual presentation can play an important role in creating the atmosphere surrounding the story. The cinematography can help communicate emotions, relationships and moments that may not be fully expressed through dialogue.
Streaming On ApataTV+
KOLOFIN will premiere and stream on the ApataTV+ YouTube Channel, making it accessible to viewers through the digital platform.
ApataTV+ has become a platform for Yoruba movie productions, giving filmmakers an avenue to release their projects directly to audiences online.
The availability of KOLOFIN on YouTube also means viewers will not have to wait for a traditional cinema run to experience the movie. Once it becomes available, audiences can watch the Yoruba drama through the ApataTV+ channel.
With its title pointing towards concealed matters and a cast featuring Seiilat, Lanre Adediwura, Kemi Owadara, Olayemi Jimoh, T. Lawal and Real Abiola Gold, KOLOFIN is set to add another drama to the growing catalogue of Yoruba films available online.
The movie is written and directed by Olafemi, produced by Ben Paul Films, and photographed by Real Abiola Gold. It is scheduled to premiere on ApataTV+ YouTube, where viewers will be able to discover the story behind The Hidden.
