My Sad Dead, also known by its Spanish title Mis muertos tristes, is a new four-part psychological horror drama miniseries that explores grief, mental illness and the unsettling relationship between the living and the dead.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Pablo Larraín, the series premiered globally on Netflix on September 24, 2026.
The haunting production is set in a brutalist neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where the story follows Emma, a recently retired doctor with an unusual and disturbing ability to see and hear dead people.
The series is also adapted into a three-hour feature film format, offering audiences another way to experience the story.
At the centre of the narrative is Emma, played by Mercedes Morán, who has lived with her supernatural ability for years.

My Sad Dead is based on three short stories by celebrated Argentine horror author Mariana Enríquez.
Her source material provides the foundation for the series’ exploration of fear, grief and psychological distress.

Rather than relying solely on traditional horror elements, the series focuses heavily on its characters and their emotional experiences.
