Yoruba actress Jumoke Odetola has announced a new chapter in her life, revealing her decision to become a minister and preacher of the gospel after answering what she described as God’s call to ministry.
The actress made the disclosure on her Instagram page on Saturday while addressing concerns from fans, friends, colleagues and family members who had noticed a change in her recent social media posts.
According to Odetola, the reactions she received showed that people were concerned about her wellbeing and wanted to know if she was facing any personal challenges.
She appreciated those who reached out to her, saying their calls and messages made her feel loved and cared for.
“Jumoke, your recent posts… Are you okay? Is everything alright? I truly appreciate the numerous calls, messages & concerns of my friends, family, colleagues. Thank you so much. I feel seen, cared for and loved. Yes, something is going on in my life… but nothing is wrong with me,” she wrote.
Odetola explained that although something significant was happening in her life, it was not a negative development. Instead, she said she was entering a new season focused on her relationship with God and her commitment to ministry.
The actress then made her new role clear, announcing that she had decided to serve as a minister and preach the gospel.
“I am entering a new season with God. I am now a minister of God. I am now a preacher of the gospel. Yes! You heard right! A minister,” she stated.
Her announcement marks a significant development in her public journey, particularly as she remains known for her work in the Yoruba film industry.
Odetola also revealed that she had initially considered keeping her decision to enter ministry private. However, she later reconsidered, noting that her new activities could eventually become visible to the public.
She explained that she did not want people to encounter her preaching on the streets and begin speculating about her activities without first hearing directly from her.
“I have been contemplating whether I should be private about it, but how can I be private about preaching the gospel when you could just see me on your street with my bell preaching the gospel? Let me bring myself out before anyone records me & brings me out,” she said.
The actress’ comments suggest that she intends to take her new responsibility beyond a private expression of faith. By openly describing herself as a minister and preacher, Odetola indicated that preaching the gospel would become part of her activities in this new season.
She also acknowledged that responding to what she described as God’s call would require spiritual strength and support. As a result, she appealed to her followers, friends, colleagues and loved ones to remember her in their prayers.
“I need all the prayers in this new season. I need all the prayers in this season. When God compels you, you may delay, but you cannot escape the call,” she added.
The actress’ message has therefore introduced her followers to a different side of her life, as she prepares to combine her faith-driven calling with the next phase of her journey.
For Odetola, the decision appears to represent more than a temporary change in direction. She described it as a response to a divine call that she believes she can no longer avoid.
Her announcement also explains the shift that had recently caught the attention of those close to her. While their concerns initially centred on whether she was experiencing difficulties, Odetola clarified that the change was connected to her decision to devote herself to ministry.
With her public declaration now made, the actress has asked for prayers as she begins what she described as a new season with God and takes on the responsibility of preaching the gospel.
