Internet personality Blessing CEO has denied asking anyone to raise money on her behalf following the reported de.ath of her second son.
The clarification came after actress Doris Ogala said she spoke directly with Blessing about a fundraising appeal being circulated by a woman claiming to be seeking financial support for her.
According to Ogala, the woman was asking members of the public to contribute towards a fundraising target of N56 million. She said the woman mentioned N20 million initially, with another N36 million also being requested.
But Blessing told Ogala during their phone conversation that she had no knowledge of the appeal and had not given anyone permission to collect money in her name.
“No, I’m not aware of that. No, no, no, no, I didn’t,” she said when Ogala asked whether she had authorised the woman to solicit funds on her behalf.
The issue was not limited to the money being requested. Blessing also questioned how news of her son’s death had been announced without her permission.
She told Ogala that she had not authorised anyone to publicly announce the death and believed the responsibility of breaking such news belonged to her.
“I didn’t give anybody consent and according to the phone passing of my son, I think I’m in the best position to break that news, not an entire stranger,” she said.
Ogala later advised anyone who may have transferred money to the woman to request a refund. She maintained that Blessing had not approved the fundraising effort and was not behind the appeal.
The actress also addressed reports concerning Blessing’s ongoing bail process, saying that she was close to completing it.
For now, the main point from Ogala’s account is that Blessing has distanced herself from the fundraising appeal and says she did not send anyone to seek financial assistance from the public.
The N56 million figure therefore did not come from Blessing, according to the conversation Ogala said she had with her.
Blessing also made it clear that she wanted control over how information about her son’s death was communicated, rather than having the announcement made by someone she said she did not know or authorise.
The denial comes at a difficult time for the internet personality, with attention surrounding the reported death of her son as well as her ongoing legal situation.
Ogala’s account has now put the fundraising claim in a different light, with Blessing’s own words indicating that she was neither aware of nor involved in the appeal for donations.
Anyone who may have contributed based on the claim that the money was being raised for Blessing has been urged by Ogala to seek a refund.
