Nollywood actress Oluebube Obio has opened up about her appearance at an APC-linked campaign event in Bayelsa State, explaining that there was more to her presence at the gathering than people may have realised.

The actress found herself facing criticism after she was seen at the political event, with her appearance leaving some people questioning her decision to participate in the campaign activities.

But according to Oluebube, the situation was not as straightforward as it appeared.

Rather than allowing the criticism to continue without an explanation, the actress addressed those who had taken issue with her presence at the event. She acknowledged that some people were disappointed and upset with her, but insisted that there were personal circumstances behind her decision that the public was not aware of.

Oluebube said she was forced to be in such settings and expressed concern about her personal safety. She also pointed to her demeanour during the event, asking people who watched the footage carefully to notice that she did not appear comfortable with what was happening around her.

For her, the situation went beyond politics or public appearances. She suggested that there were people putting pressure on her and claimed that she was being blackmailed.

She also made it clear that she intends to speak about the people she says are behind the situation, although she would rather wait until she believes the time is right.

In her words:

“To all those people angrily shading and insulting me as in relation to the ongoing Apc campaign, I understand your pains and know that you guys are disappointed in me, but there’s something deep to it.

I was actually forced to be in such settings, my life and safety is not guaranteed, if you watch the video closely, I myself felt so much discomfort and stressed up.

When the time is right I will expose the people blackmailing me, the least you can do is to pray for me”.

Oluebube's explanation presents the incident from a very different perspective. While photographs and videos from public events can often give the impression that a celebrity is willingly endorsing everything taking place around them, the actress is now saying that her own experience was more complicated.

Her comments also suggest that she is dealing with circumstances she does not feel ready to discuss publicly at the moment.

The actress did not identify the individuals she accused of blackmailing her, nor did she provide details about what she says forced her to attend the event. Instead, she asked people to hold off on judging her based solely on what they saw.

Her request was simple: give her some understanding and pray for her.

The incident has therefore become less about her physical presence at the political gathering and more about the explanation she has now offered for being there.

For Oluebube, there appears to be a story behind the appearance that she believes the public does not yet know. And from her statement, she intends to reveal more when she feels the time is right.
