Nollywood actor Osita Iheme has revealed that he is not currently considering marriage, saying he is content with the life he has chosen for himself at the age of 43.
The actor, widely recognised by his nickname Pawpaw, made the disclosure while speaking about his personal life and his priorities outside his acting career.
According to Osita Iheme, marriage is not something he is actively pursuing at this stage of his life. Rather than allowing societal expectations to determine his choices, the actor said he prefers to concentrate on living a fulfilling life and being available for the people who matter to him.
At 43, Osita Iheme said he has reached a point where he is comfortable with his decision and does not feel pressured to follow the conventional path of getting married and starting his own household.
The actor also explained that his definition of family extends beyond having a wife and biological children. His siblings have children of their own, and he considers his nieces and nephews to be part of his immediate family.
For Osita Iheme, being involved in the lives of his brothers’ and sisters’ children gives him a sense of fulfilment. He believes he can contribute to their lives, offer support and enjoy the bond they share without necessarily having children of his own.
The actor’s comments also highlight his personal approach to happiness and fulfilment. Rather than measuring his life according to expectations about age, marriage or family, he said he wants to make the most of the choices he has made.
Osita Iheme has enjoyed a long career in Nollywood and became particularly popular for his performances alongside Chinedu Ikedieze, known as Aki.
The pair became widely recognised for their roles in comedy productions and established themselves as memorable figures in Nigerian cinema.
Although his screen persona has often been associated with comedy, Osita Iheme has continued to maintain a successful career in the Nigerian entertainment industry while keeping much of his private life away from public attention.
His latest comments have nevertheless sparked conversations about marriage, personal choices and the pressure people sometimes face to conform to societal expectations.
For the actor, however, happiness appears to come from being comfortable with his circumstances and maintaining strong relationships with those around him.
With his siblings already raising children, Osita Iheme said he regards their children as his own and takes satisfaction in supporting them.
At this stage of his life, the actor appears focused on enjoying his journey on his own terms rather than allowing his age to dictate when or whether he should get married.
His position serves as a reminder that people can have different definitions of family and fulfilment, with marriage not necessarily being the only measure of a successful or meaningful life.
