“I Don’t Want to Be Friends With Your Dog” — Kola Tells Dog Owners to Respect His Boundary

Former BBNaija housemate Kola has made it clear that people who own dogs should not expect him to warm up to their pets whenever he comes visiting.

For some people, having a dog around the house is completely normal. They may see their pets as part of the family and naturally expect visitors to feel comfortable around them. But that is not the case for Kola, who appears to prefer keeping his distance from dogs altogether.

In a video, Kola explained that he does not want dog owners trying to persuade him to interact with their pets. According to him, telling him that a dog is friendly or has never attacked anyone will not change his mind.

“I don’t want to be friends with your animal. I don’t want to be friends with your dog. Don't say it doesn't bite or hurt, i don't just want to be friends,” he said.

Kola’s point was less about whether the dogs are dangerous and more about his personal preference. He does not want to establish any kind of relationship with someone’s pet simply because he has entered their home.

He also made it clear that repeated assurances about a dog being harmless are not necessary. If he says he is uncomfortable around the animal, he would rather that his preference be respected than be encouraged to overcome it.

For dog owners, it can sometimes be easy to assume that everyone will appreciate their pets in the same way they do. A friendly dog may be treated like a member of the household, and its owner may not see any reason for a visitor to be uncomfortable around it.

But Kola’s comments highlight a simple boundary: not everyone wants to interact with animals, even when those animals are calm, trained or considered harmless by their owners.

His message to dog owners is straightforward. He is not asking them to change how they feel about their pets; he simply wants them to understand that he does not share the same interest.

“I don’t want to be friends with your animal” was perhaps the clearest way he could put it.

Rather than having to explain himself every time he visits someone with a dog, Kola appears to want his preference accepted without the usual assurances that the animal will not bite, chase or hurt him.

At the end of the day, his position comes down to personal boundaries. Dog lovers may enjoy having their pets around, but Kola would rather admire them from a distance or not interact with them at all.
