Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced plans for a three-night concert residency at the National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos, this December.

The singer made the announcement on his verified Instagram page on Friday, unveiling a new concert series titled “Oriadè: The Residency.” The event is scheduled to take place from December 17 to 19.

Davido shared the announcement alongside videos highlighting some of his performances, as well as footage of Lagos and the National Theatre. The visuals accompanied a reflection on his 15-year journey in the music industry and his connection to the city where his career has continued to grow.

“LAGOS!!! We bringing it HOME! 15 years of madness and there’s nowhere I’d rather be,” the singer wrote.

He added, “The world has shown us so much love.”

The three-night residency will see Davido take the stage at the National Theatre on consecutive nights, giving fans in Lagos an opportunity to experience his music across three performances.

The concert series is also positioned as a celebration of the singer’s career and the journey that has taken him from his early days in Nigeria to becoming one of the country’s most recognised Afrobeats artistes internationally.

Davido’s 15-Year Musical Journey

Davido began gaining widespread recognition in 2011 following the release of his hit single, “Dami Duro.” The song helped establish him as one of the emerging stars of Nigeria’s rapidly expanding music industry.

Since then, the singer has built a catalogue featuring several successful records that have remained significant to his career. Among them are “Aye,” “If” and “Fall,” songs that helped strengthen his presence among Nigerian and international audiences.

His career has also been defined by collaborations with artistes from different parts of the world. Through such collaborations and his own releases, Davido has remained closely associated with the international growth and visibility of Afrobeats.

Over the years, he has performed before large audiences in Africa, Europe and North America, further expanding his reach beyond Nigeria.

His music has also earned him a strong following among listeners across different countries, while his performances have become an important part of his connection with fans.

Bringing The Celebration Home

The announcement of “Oriadè: The Residency” marks a return to Lagos for a concert experience centred on Davido’s lengthy career.

By choosing the National Theatre in Iganmu as the venue, the singer is set to stage the three-night event at one of Lagos’ major entertainment and cultural landmarks.

The December residency will run from December 17 to 19, with each night forming part of the same concert series.

Davido’s announcement also reflects the significance of Lagos to his career and the Nigerian music industry. Although his music has taken him to stages around the world, the singer has continued to maintain a strong connection with Nigerian audiences.

His reference to bringing the concert “HOME” further highlights the importance of Lagos in the celebration.

A Three-Night Musical Celebration

“Oriadè: The Residency” will give Davido an opportunity to revisit different stages of his 15-year musical journey while performing for fans in Lagos.

From the songs that established him in the early years of his career to records that helped expand his international profile, the residency is expected to centre on the body of work he has built over the years.

The National Theatre performances will also add another chapter to Davido’s long-running relationship with live audiences.

With the three-night concert scheduled for December 17, 18 and 19, fans will have three consecutive opportunities to see the Afrobeats star perform in Lagos.

For Davido, the residency represents more than another concert announcement. It is a celebration of 15 years in music, the global journey of his sound and his continuing connection with the city he describes as home.
