Danielle Adewusi, representing Lagos State, has emerged as the winner of Miss Universe Nigeria 2026 after defeating 19 other contestants at the grand finale of the pageant.
Adewusi was crowned at the colourful event held on Sunday at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, bringing several weeks of competition to a close.
The pageant featured a series of activities designed to test the contestants beyond their appearance, with participants taking part in camp programmes, advocacy initiatives, talent presentations and various stage performances.
Adewusi eventually emerged as the overall winner and received the crown from Guy Murray-Bruce, president of the Silverbird Group and national director of Miss Universe Nigeria.
According to the organisers, the Lagos representative distinguished herself throughout the competition with her confidence, intelligence, elegance and commitment to social impact.
Her victory means she will now carry Nigeria’s flag to the international stage, representing the country at the 75th Miss Universe Festival.
The international event is scheduled to take place on November 24 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Top Contestants
The competition attracted representatives from different states and the Federal Capital Territory, with the contestants competing through various stages before the final selection.
The other contestants who secured places in the top 10 were Anita Osikhena of Edo, Myya Jones of Cross River, Melissa Toghanro of Delta, Oluwafunmibi Ajaja of Ekiti, Benedicta Iferike of Abuja, Chidinma Oluku of Abia, Precious Chinah of Rivers, Eno Idungafa of Akwa Ibom and Edidiong Udoidua of Ebonyi.
Cross River representative Myya Jones also gained an advantage during the competition after receiving the highest number of votes in the fast-track voting round.
Her strong showing in the voting exercise automatically earned her a place among the top five finalists.
The development added another highlight to the competition as contestants continued to battle for the coveted crown.
While Adewusi ultimately claimed the Miss Universe Nigeria title, other contestants also secured opportunities to represent the country and receive recognition for their performances.
Toghanro To Represent Nigeria
Melissa Toghanro, who represented Delta State, was selected to represent Nigeria at Miss Supranational.
Her selection gives her an opportunity to compete on another international pageant platform after her performance at Miss Universe Nigeria.
Anita Osikhena of Edo also emerged as one of the major award recipients during the grand finale.
The pageant recognised contestants across several categories, allowing participants who did not win the main crown to receive honours for specific strengths displayed during the competition.
Miss Akwa Ibom was named Most Photogenic, while Miss Ekiti won the Miss Amity award.
Miss Edo received the Best Evening Dress award, recognising her performance in the category.
Miss Oyo was named Top Model, while Miss Osun emerged winner of the Best National Costume category.
The Best Talent award went to Miss Ogun, adding another individual achievement to the list of honours presented during the grand finale.
Adewusi Begins International Journey
With her victory, Adewusi now takes on the responsibility of representing Nigeria at the 75th Miss Universe Festival in Puerto Rico.
Her emergence follows a competitive process that brought together 20 contestants from different parts of the country.
The competition provided the participants with opportunities to showcase their personalities, talents, advocacy interests and stage presence throughout the different stages of the pageant.
For Adewusi, the grand finale marked the culmination of those activities and secured her the national title.
As Miss Universe Nigeria 2026, she will now prepare for the international event scheduled for November 24 in San Juan.
Her victory has also placed her among Nigerian beauty queens who have earned the opportunity to represent the country at international pageantry.
The Miss Universe Nigeria grand finale ended with Adewusi taking the major crown, while several of her fellow contestants received individual honours and opportunities to compete on other international platforms.
