At 17, I Was Already Casting Out Demons — Okpebholo Recalls His Spiritual Activities

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has recalled an unusual part of his teenage years, telling worshippers that he was already involved in spiritual activities by the time he was 17.

He spoke at The Votage Church while addressing young people in the congregation. His remarks touched on his upbringing, his religious background and the problems of cultism and insecurity in Edo State.

Reflecting on his younger days, Okpebholo said his activities at the time included what he described as casting out demons.

“When I see young ones standing in the presence of God, I remember at 17, 18, I had also started casting out demons,” Okpebholo said.

He also said his familiarity with cultism did not begin in public office, describing it as an issue he had encountered over the years.

“Fighting insecurity, especially cultism, is not a new thing to me. It is something that has been happening,” he added.

The governor also referred to the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa in recounting the religious influence around his early life.
