Nollywood actress Caroline Hutchings has officially walked away from Real Housewives of Lagos, describing her time on the reality show as draining and clarifying that she never considered her castmates friends despite how she treated them.
In a lengthy statement shared on social media, Caroline explained that reality television in Nigeria takes a heavy toll on those involved, and stressed that she naturally gravitates toward people whose energy genuinely aligns with hers rather than forming attachments out of obligation.
She was direct in stating that her warmth toward the other women on the show should never have been mistaken for genuine friendship, adding that RHOL had, in her view, been used to distort her identity, her professional achievements, and even her private life as a mother.
According to her post, she existed long before the show came along, having spent over two decades building a career as an actress, producer, and storyteller, with more than 60 films and several award-winning projects to her name.
She revealed that ten more productions are currently in the pipeline alongside a team of writers, producers, and crew members she trusts. She emphasized that this body of work speaks for itself and deserves recognition independent of any reality television appearance.
Caroline described her run on RHOL as simply one chapter in a much longer story, insisting that reality TV does not define her career the way her film work does.
She thanked fans and supporters for the love shown throughout her time on the show before confirming she was stepping back into her original identity as a filmmaker and creative.
This isn't the first time Caroline has used her platform to highlight her achievements outside entertainment. About a year ago, the former wife of Musa Danjuma listed her academic credentials publicly and hinted at plans to further her education at Harvard.
That followed her completion of a Master's degree in International Law in 2023, which she finished with an impressive 4.09 GPA, sharing photos from her graduation as she celebrated the milestone.
Her academic success soon translated into a professional appointment when she was named Director of Investment at the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
At the time, she expressed gratitude for being trusted with the role, describing it as an opportunity to give back to an industry that had shaped her career and pledging to serve with dedication.
Caroline's public profile also extends into politics. Back in 2022, she ran as the deputy governorship candidate for the African Action Congress in Akwa Ibom State, using the campaign to pledge loyalty and honest service to both the state and the country at large.
With her exit from RHOL now confirmed, attention turns to how she intends to balance her return to full-time filmmaking with the various other ventures she has built over the years.
