The family of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has revealed more details about the events leading to her death, claiming that the actress repeatedly expressed fears that she would die on the same day she eventually passed away.
Osoba’s maternal aunt, Pejuola Ogunesan, made the disclosure during a Sunday interview with actor Kunle Afod, alongside another relative identified as Dupe.
The revelation comes amid continuing questions surrounding the circumstances of Osoba’s death, following conflicting accounts from her family and her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko.
Aunt Recounts Actress’ Final Hours
According to Pejuola, Osoba contacted members of her family despite a strained relationship and told them she feared she would not survive the day.
The aunt claimed the actress also alleged that Onadeko had told her that her obituary would be published that same day.
Pejuola explained that she and Osoba had become estranged after the actress left Evercare Hospital in Lekki in 2023 while receiving treatment for breast cancer.
She said the relationship became strained after the family allegedly took Osoba’s phone away so she could concentrate on her surgery. According to Pejuola, the actress subsequently blocked several family members.
“We tried calling her and discovered that she had blocked all of us,” she said.
Despite the disagreement, Pejuola said she and her elder sister went to the police station after learning that Osoba was there.
Claims Of Disturbing Experiences
Pejuola alleged that Osoba had been experiencing disturbing dreams and complaining about seeing monsters and her fiancé.
The actress reportedly wanted to visit a prophetess identified as Kehinde Osoba for spiritual intervention.
According to her aunt, Osoba repeatedly spoke about dying that day.
“She mentioned that the fiancé had told her that they would post her obituary that day,” Pejuola claimed.
The family member further alleged that Osoba made accusations against Onadeko, including claims of humiliation and abuse.
She also claimed the actress alleged that the prophet had relationships with other women and had instructed her to leave his home and make it appear as though they had separated.
Family Struggled To Find Help
Pejuola said Osoba had been staying with her hairstylist around the period, while also revealing that the actress told the family she had experienced three miscarriages.
According to her, Osoba had previously been advised not to become pregnant for five years following her surgery.
The family reportedly contacted the prophetess Osoba wanted to visit, but she allegedly asked them not to bring the actress to her church and promised to pick her up after completing her programme.
However, after waiting for hours, the family reportedly found the church locked and were unable to reach the woman.
They eventually took Osoba to another church, where prayers were offered after she became increasingly distressed.
Pejuola claimed the actress continued saying that she would die that day.
Actress’ Condition Deteriorated
According to the aunt, Osoba later stayed with members of her family, but her condition eventually worsened.
She reportedly made a social media post titled “Ogo tuntun”, meaning “new glory”, and sent messages to several people before complaining that she was uncomfortable.
The family subsequently decided to take her to hospital.
Pejuola said they were initially directed elsewhere before being referred to Ogun State University Teaching Hospital.
However, she claimed Osoba’s condition deteriorated while they were still travelling.
“When we got there, they referred us to OSUTH. Suddenly, she just defecated in the car. Her head suddenly dropped. Before we could get to the emergency, she was confirmed dead,” she said.
Conflicting Accounts Continue
The family’s account differs significantly from claims previously made by Osoba’s fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko.
Onadeko had alleged that he received a midnight phone call informing him that Osoba had died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
He also rejected allegations concerning her treatment, her finances and the circumstances surrounding her death.
The conflicting accounts have intensified questions about Osoba’s final movements and what happened in the hours before she died.
While her family has now provided its version of events, the circumstances surrounding the actress’ death have not been independently established.
Temitope Osoba died at the age of 40 and is scheduled to be buried in Iperu-Remo, Ogun State.
